Celebrity Cruises has cancelled all parasailing trips in Caribbean-indefinitely–after an accident in the St. Thomas who left one passenger was killed and another severely wounded. Royal Caribbean, celebrity's sister line, who had followed him.
the 60-Year-old passenger sailing on celebrity Eclipse, the Virgin Islands Daily News identified as Bernice Kraftcheck, 60, died as a result of his downfall. According to the Daily News, "Wind Gust and wind gusts in St. Thomas on Tuesday afternoon may have factored in the death." Coast Guard spokesman Ricardo Castrodad outlet said that women hit the water at the same time.
At least six Government convened to investigate the issue, and these bodies have also been working in collaboration with the United States Coast Guard at the Federal level, USVI Department of tourism said in a statement. The company has voluntarily parasail operations suspended until a full inspection-compliance.
As of Friday morning, Martinez tells Cruise Critic that the investigation is ongoing, and Royal Caribbean and celebrity have stopped offering parasailing excursion in the Caribbean while waiting for the results. Martinez said the decision to rule out a visit was made in "an abundance of caution."
